Hello,
Still haven’t fed my sourdough starter. It’ll be two weeks tomorrow and so far, nothing nefarious appears to be growing inside so I think I’m safe for another day (or whenever I actually remember to feed it).
This week I wanted to share a list of things that have been bringing me joy or making my life easier in some way. It’s quite random as is the vibe over here, but I know you’ll find a golden nugget for yourself in there somewhere:
Off Campus on Prime. Sorry (I’m not). I’m talking about it again because I can’t get over how good it is. I’ve almost finished a rewatch of the whole thing. Am I unwell? I don’t care. Also streaming ‘Bed on Fire’ by GFlip non-stop.
Telescopic duster from Kmart. This thing was so handy for cleaning all the plaster dust off every single surface after the reno. Highly recommend for nailing those cobwebs in awkwardly high places, too.
Freezer trays from Seed & Sprout. Possibly my favourite new kitchen tool. I got a set of these on sale a couple of months ago (still on sale) to help make batch cooking and freezing leftovers easier and I love them. They’re silicone, really sturdy and only take up a small footprint in my freezer. Bonus points for having the capacity printed on the side of each compartment which is imperative in my current cooking era i.e. feeding a baby, a toddler, a protein wanker (me) and an optimisation wanker (husband).
Oxygenated Bleach from Koala Eco. I want to gate keep this, it’s that good. This is the MVP of my laundry situation at the moment. I chuck it in the drum for both my whites and colours, especially when the whites are looking a bit dirty and grey-ish; this brings them back to life. Amazing for soaking the feral post-childcare socks.
The Brick. I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this earlier. If you’re finding yourself absently opening the apps and mindlessly scrolling for 10mins before you even realise what’s happening, then you need a Brick. It acts as a physical blocking device for any app on your phone you want to limit screen time of. You tap the Brick to activate it and have to physically go to the Brick to get access again. I can’t tell you how many times it’s caught me out. I’ve been so slack the last month but I’m back on the bandwagon.
The Love Trapped podcast. A truly bat shit story about how a former US bachelor got tied up in a massive paternity scandal from a one-night stand. I don’t want to give big spoilers but it’s truly astounding the lengths some people will go to when caught up in their own shit.
A gals weekend. I recently returned from a girls weekend away with a very dear friend and fellow mom wanting to escape her children for 48hrs. What ensued was a weekend filled with the very best things: talking shit for hours, drinking wine, eating great food, shopping, face masks, good coffee and sleeping. This is your reminder to book one or schedule it regularly in the calendar for your own sanity of mind.
